FedEx Australia recently unveiled a new state-of-the-art sorting and distribution facility in Coffs Harbour, aimed at supporting economic growth within the growing region while allowing small and medium businesses to expand their domestic and international reach.
According to FedEx, the new facility spans 2,400 square metres and is equipped with advanced material handling and sorting technology to safely and efficiently sort up to 1,300 packages per hour.
Strategically located near the highway, the new facility aims to provide easy access for express pick-up and delivery services across Coffs Harbour and surrounding areas including Grafton to the north and Eungai Creek to the south. It will also serve as a domestic and international collection point, providing end-to-end transportation services for local importers and exporters.
“This advanced facility represents a significant milestone in our commitment to enhancing our value proposition in Australia, and creating greater access for customers while supporting the ongoing economic growth of regions like Coffs Harbour,” said Vice President of FedEx Australasia, Peter Langley.
“By investing in infrastructure enhancements and service improvements in Australia, we enable faster and more efficient freight movement across the country. This expansion will not only strengthen our regional network and overall service offerings, but it also empowers local businesses to retain or even gain market share by providing the best possible last-mile delivery experience for their customers.”
Coffs Harbour is one of the fastest growing and most dynamic areas within regional NSW. The city boasts a $5 billion Gross Regional Product (GRP), contributing just under 0.7 percent to NSW Gross State Product.
With a projected population growth of nearly 29 percent by 2041, Coffs Harbour is poised for continued economic expansion and the new FedEx facility will help support this burgeoning growth, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
