The latest podcast from Fleet News Group is available on iTunes and Spotify. We spoke to Danielle Lackey, Chief Legal Officer at Motus.
In the U.S., Motus software is used by organisations to provide reimbursements to employees when they use their vehicles for work trips. It is also being used to provide reporting on emissions used by the company fleet.
In the podcast, Lackey discusses how Motus provide information on a monthly basis to businesses for driver reimbursements that reflects the current costs of fuel and vehicle depreciation. So when fuel prices are high, the drivers receive more per kilometre to reflect the actual costs of running the vehicle that month.
Lackey explains how reimbursements are a popular method of running a fleet in the United States because it provides benefits to the employee and employer. It also reduces the duplication of motor vehicles because one vehicle is doing two jobs (work and personal transportation).
For the employer, they are only paying for the asset when it’s being used for work purposes. For the employee, they can drive the vehicle of their choice and get the company to pay for some of the costs.
It’s another great podcast by Caroline Falls.
