The annual conference run by the Australian Trucking Association attracts industry leaders and politicians because as the phrase goes, “Without trucks, Australia stops.”
The Hon Catherine King MP said in her opening remarks that trucking touches every single community around this great nation from the remotest community and outback WA or the NT, to the middle of our most vibrant major cities.
She also acknowledged the contributions made by the delegates lead by the Australian Trucking Association “as a central and engaged stakeholder who is always ready to come to the table, to provide advice to provide input and to provide ideas to government.”
Mark Bucknall, Associate Vice President Business Development – APAC at Geotab, presented on day one in a session titled Empowering businesses: the synergy between cutting-edge fleet technology and sustainability where he linked the value of data to the approaching transition to the electrification of road transport.
It followed on the theme of innovation and AI which was featured in the opening keynote by guest speaker Michael McQueen.
“Trucking Australia kicked off with fantastic insights from Michael McQueen, whose commentary into artificial intelligence and fleet data opportunities echoes our work in generative AI with Geotab ACE,” Bucknall told Fleet HV News.
“It is a privilege to share cutting-edge thoughts, such as AI and predictive analytics, with an informed and knowledgeable transport and logistics audience.”
Geotab are certainly in a position to help fleets use AI with 4.2 million vehicles connected to their platform delivering 70 billion data points a day.
An audience member asked about the benefits of having all this data when smaller organisations aren’t ready to use it, and certainly aren’t ready for regenerative artificial intelligence like Geotab ACE.
Bucknall suggested it was better to have the data collected so AI can make it relevant to your organisation because you can’t manage what you don’t measure.
