We caught up with the Frank Luksic and Tony Forte from Durst Industries at the 2023 Brisbane Truck Show. They were promoting the Maxion Truck Master (the ultimate 12V jump starter for American 12V trucks) which was designed by Luksic and is Australian Made.
“We’re displaying the new Maxion Truck Master,” explains Luksic. “This is our 12 volt dedicated jump starter for Prime Movers. So any American Truck; Kenworth, Freightliner, Western Star, and Mack.”
“They all have batteries in parallel in those systems. They are the hardest things in the world to start and we’ve got a dedicated, specialised jump pack that it’s only seven kilos and will start an American Freightliner from dead flat.”
“So this thing is actually capable of 8,000 starting amps and 16,000 burst amps. So more than enough power to start anything. Custom designed battery by Durst. And the whole thing very simple to use; very intuitive; flick a few buttons and everything happens.”
The Maxion Truck Master was designed by Luksic and built locally by Durst. It is one of the many products designed and built locally which are a must for workshops and fleet operators to get a vehicle going when the battery has drained flat.
The other jump starters on the stand were capacitor based models known as the Hypastart range and are extremely popular and maintenance free.
“They’re very popular the mining industry,” explains Luksic. “With no chance of gas or fire explosion. They are extremely safe and very high output. They are what we call a ‘always ready to go’ jumpstarters. Charge times are always less than 10 minutes on one of these things. So they’re always ready; super popular; again fully Australian Made.”
