This year’s Truck Show will introduce The Depot, offering an interactive zone designed to engage, educate and entertain students, school-leavers and budding new-to-industry workers.
The Depot will host more than 2,000 students from dozens of schools across South-East Queensland, thanks to a partnership between the Queensland Government and show organiser Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA), providing a look at the various career paths within the transport industry.
Students will take part in a variety of activities including a new cutting-edge Brisbane Truck School and Commercial Simulators display that will put budding operators in the driver’s seat.
The simulators offer a variety of vehicles and driving scenarios, providing a realistic and immersive driving experience for students looking to test their skills and gain valuable insights into safe driving practices. The simulators even features a Roadranger gearbox!
HVIA has also collaborated with Women in Manufacturing Queensland to highlight the significant contributions of women in the automotive industry, inspiring the next generation to pursue careers within the heavy vehicle industry.
The attraction aims to celebrate the integral role women play in shaping the future of the heavy vehicle industry, while promoting work environments that offer inclusion and enquiry to ignite innovation.
Visitors to The Depot will be able to explore over 30 career paths, with a blend of hands-on and virtual interactive displays, thanks to TAFE Queensland. The interactive experience will give aspiring young professionals a taste of the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the heavy vehicle industry.
For students exploring career possibilities, professionals seeking to upskill, or anyone ready to jump on board Australia’s vital heavy vehicle industry, TAFE Queensland’s display at The Depot is a must-visit.
Once the hard work is done, The Depot will provide a chance to shoot hoops with Scania’s Dunk Truck half-court basketball setup. According to Scania, the unique set-up is designed to show how collaboration and camaraderie play a crucial role in the workplace.
The Depot will also feature a fully-licenced beer garden, providing a perfect backdrop for networking!
Visit The Depot from Thursday to Saturday between 9:00am to 5:00pm, and explore where a career in the heavy vehicle industry could take you.
The Brisbane Truck Show will take place at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre from 15-18 May, and Fleet HV News will be there for the event so come and find us for a chat!
