The safety and environmental credentials of Hino Australia’s 700 Series are proving a winning combination for heavy-duty customers.
The Hino 700 Series is the safest Hino truck ever and meets Euro 6 exhaust emission standards while providing a wider range of axle configurations, transmissions and engine power ratings.
“When we launched the 700 Series last year, we said it was ‘’built for the future’’ – based on our customers’ reactions to it, the future is now here,” said Daniel Petrovski, Department Manager – Product Strategy for Hino Australia.
“Sales are currently up over 20% year-on-year but have been hampered significantly by component-related production delays,” continued Mr Petrovski.
“This year-on-year performance is expected to further increase with strong deliveries forecast during the second half of 2022.”
With an eye-catching new interior and exterior, the Hino 700 Series offers increased comfort and practicality for drivers.
“In designing the 700 Series, there has been considerable focus on the needs of the driver, as the cab is their home away from home, as well as their office,” said Mr Petrovski.
“Equally as important, it delivers an enhanced driving experience, coupled with the renowned Hino Quality, Durability and Reliability (QDR).”
Safest Hino truck ever
The Hino 700 Series boasts the most comprehensive safety package ever offered in a Hino truck.
For the first time, Driver Monitor (DM) has been added to the Hino SmartSafe package, which is a comprehensive safety package featuring driver assist technologies that take an active focus on protecting the lives of drivers, passengers and other road users.
Hino SmartSafe also includes a Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Pedestrian Detection (PD), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Reverse Camera and a suite of other standard safety features.
“At Hino, safety is a central design principle, and all variants of the 700 Series range are equipped with Hino SmartSafe,” said Mr Petrovski.
“The 700 Series answers a lot of the major safety issues that confront the transport industry and other road users with the implementation of advanced driver assist technologies, Hino SmartSafe, and, more specifically the introduction of Driver Monitor.”
Cleanest heavy-duty Hino ever with Euro 6 emissions
Like the 500 Series Standard Cab, the Hino 700 Series exceeds the current Australian exhaust emission standards.
“All models meet Euro 6 exhaust emission standards before they are even legislated in Australia,” said Mr Petrovski.
Expanded model range is ready for the future
With a wider range of axle configurations, an increased number of engine power ratings and an exclusively two-pedal transmission line-up, the 700 Series models suit more customer applications and operating requirements.
A Euro 6 A09C nine litre engine is now available, in addition to the well-proven Hino E13C 13 litre engine which has also been updated to meet Euro 6 exhaust emissions compliance.
Key new models launched in 2021 include 4×2 and 6×2 rigid trucks suitable for distribution applications as well as the 6×4 and 8×4 models, which cater for customers at the heavier end of the distribution and vocational application spectrum.
“The 700 Series was built as a vehicle for today and for the future.
“Australian customers clearly prefer the convenience of two-pedal transmissions, which is why the expanded Hino 700 Series model range is available with either a true automatic or an automated manual transmission (AMT), which are matched to their respective engine power ratings,” said Mr Petrovski.
Increased performance courtesy of more engine and transmission options
The nine litre models begin with the FH 1832 4×2, FR 2632 6×2 and FS 2632 6×4 models, which feature the A09C-VP engine producing 320hp (235kW) and 1275Nm of torque delivered from 1,100-1,600rpm, and is mated to the six-speed Allison 3200 true automatic transmission.
Meanwhile, the 700 Series FY 3036 8×4 model features a more powerful version of the nine litre engine – the A09C-VN, with 360hp (265kW) and 1569Nm of torque delivered from 1,100-1,600rpm, and is matched to the larger and stronger six-speed Allison 4440 true automatic transmission.
13 litre models start with the SH 1845 4×2 models featuring the E13C-BL engine with the same peak power of 450hp (331kW) and 2157 Nm of torque.
The 700 Series SS 2848 6×4 prime mover, FS 2848 6×4 rigid and FY 3248 8×4 rigid models utilise the E13C-BK engine with a horsepower rating of 480hp (353kW) and 2157Nm of torque, which is now available across a wider range between 1,000 and 1,500rpm, offering the opportunity for improved drivability and fuel efficiency.
The E13C engines are matched to the latest generation of the ZF 16-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), the TraXon TX 2441TO.
Improved braking performance
All 700 Series models feature an Electronic Brake System (EBS) combined with the Hino Taper Roller brakes, which enhance braking performance and reduces maintenance requirements.
Standard auxiliary braking on both of the nine and thirteen litre 700 Series models is courtesy of the ‘Jake Brake’ (or Jacobs Engine Brake®).
All 13 litre models receive additional market-leading auxiliary braking via the standard inclusion of a ZF Intarder, which is integrated into the rear of the 16-speed ZF TraXon TX 2441TO AMT.
“Superior auxiliary braking is a feature which is valued by fleet operators as it extends the service brake life,” said Mr Petrovski.
“Drivers also appreciate the improved ease of operation while driving in regional or metropolitan applications, and the confident control it delivers in situations such as steep downhill descents.”
Comfort and practicality features of new interior
Like its 500 Series Standard Cab stablemate, the 700 Series continues the Hino trend towards a more functional and contemporary interior, with its balance of carbon, silver and earthy tones.
“The 700 Series raised the bar for the interior of heavy-duty Japanese-built trucks with the next-generation ISRI 6860 NTS2 driver’s seat, UN ECE R29 compliant cab and a highly intelligent multimedia unit,” said Mr Petrovski.
On the outside, its distinctive bold ‘face’ includes an enlarged chrome grille and Hino marque, while Light Emitting Diode (LED) headlamps with Daytime Running Lamps set in the bumper, and polished Alcoa alloy wheels are standard.

Like all Hino products, the 700 Series is supported by Hino Advantage, a suite of business solutions that are designed to reduce costs over the life of the vehicle.
“Our Hino Advantage solutions include Hino SmartSafe, capped price servicing, Hino Genuine Parts, 24/7 Hino roadside assist, our finance options, and customer support provisions via our Customer Support Centre,” Mr Petrovski concluded.
All 500 and 700 Series customers benefit from Hino-Connect, which is the next-generation of business intelligence that provides customers with real-time performance data tracking, remote diagnosis of vehicle faults and dedicated Hino-Connect specialist support.
Hino-Connect allows direct communication with the driver through the truck’s multimedia unit, which is an Australian-first.
A unique element of Hino-Connect is the case-management provided by the Sydney-based team of Hino-Connect Specialists that support the customer, driver and dealer and monitor the progress of the repair to get the truck back on the road quickly.
