Australian-owned power solutions brand Projecta has taken out a major international accolade, winning a coveted Red Dot Design Award for its Intelli-Start jump starter range.
The Red Dot Award is among the world’s most prestigious design competitions, with over 20,000 entries submitted annually from more than 60 countries. The win places Projecta on the global design map, particularly notable given it was the first time its parent company, Brown & Watson International (BWI), had entered the awards.
The winning products are part of the Intelli-Start Series — a range of professional and industrial-grade jump starters trusted by trade professionals and mechanics across Australia and beyond. According to the jury, the Intelli-Start products stood out for their rugged yet compact form factor, intuitive user interface, and durable design tailored for high-demand automotive and industrial environments.
“Being recognised with the Red Dot Design Awards on our first entry is an incredible achievement,” said Mark Finocchiaro, Head of Design at Brown & Watson International. “These products represent years of dedication from our design and engineering teams to deliver world-class, user-focused technology that stands up to the rigours of real-world use.”
Designed in Australia, the Intelli-Start Series includes features such as a clear digital display, integrated safety protections, and ergonomic casing — all packaged in a portable, high-powered unit that reflects Projecta’s growing global footprint. Already popular in Australia and New Zealand, the products are also gaining traction in the USA and European markets.
George Davies, Group CEO of Brown & Watson International, said the recognition reflects the global competitiveness of Australian engineering and design. “This international recognition affirms our belief in the strength of Australian design and innovation,” Davies said. “As the Projecta brand continues to expand into new global markets, honours like the Red Dot Award boost our confidence and credibility on the international stage.”
