As Hino Australia’s 9,272m² purpose-built Parts Distribution Centre (PDC) approaches its fifth anniversary, the company says the facility continues to make a measurable difference to supply performance for customers and dealers across the country.
Greg Bleasel, Vice President – Product Support for Hino Australia, said the business had outgrown its previous location well before the move.
“The scale of our ‘truck park’ increased parts sales 24% in the five years to 2021, which ultimately made a new facility essential.”
Since opening the Horsley Park facility in 2021, Hino reports a further lift in demand.
“In the four years since opening the new PDC, we have seen a further 37% increase in parts sales.
“The PDC has strengthened our supply-chain network and delivered a consistently higher supply rate.”
Bleasel said that national coverage and dependable availability remain critical.
“We have increased our inventory stock level by more than 50% and, thanks to a 97% supply rate, we can generally supply our dealers with stock within a day.”
Efficiency gains were also a key target for the upgraded facility, with a focus on improving pick-and-pack performance.
“When we purpose-built the PDC in 2021, one of our goals was to improve our already strong ‘pick rate’ – it now sits at 54 lines per hour, which is a 69% improvement on our previous PDC.”
Most orders are now fulfilled rapidly.
“Up to 97% of parts are available on the shelf for same-day or next-day dispatch meaning less downtime for our customers.”
The larger footprint has enabled Hino to modernise workflows and build in future growth capacity.
“Doubling our floor space has allowed us to future proof our business while an additional eight loading bays mean multiple vehicles can be loaded and unloaded simultaneously.”
Bleasel said the location in Sydney’s west remains an important strategic choice.
“It provides easy access to industrial areas and key transport routes while nearby Badgerys Creek airport provides future opportunities for airfreight deliveries.”
For heavy-vehicle operators, shorter wait times and higher stock availability remain central to reducing downtime and keeping trucks working. Hino says the PDC’s performance metrics show that consistent investment in parts infrastructure continues to pay dividends across its national dealer network.
