IVECO has released the latest generation Eurocargo in Australia, bringing a wide suite of upgrades aimed at safety, efficiency and driver comfort. The medium-duty line-up now includes five core models with more active safety systems, revised engines, new digital cabin features and the introduction of IVECO On telematics.
For fleet operators, the refresh brings a combination of productivity-focused driveline updates and modern compliance-friendly safety tools that have become increasingly important across freight, construction, service body and council applications.
More choice across the range
The Eurocargo family now consists of the ML140, ML160, ML180, plus the ML150 4×4 and ML150 4×2 dual cab. A new Tipper Pack option for the ML140 adds a 4185mm wheelbase, higher 22-tonne GCM, reinforced parabolic suspension, rear diff lock and “easy clean” cab trim for operators working in civil works or materials handling.
GVM options span 14–18 tonnes, with GCM ratings from 17.5t to 28t depending on transmission choice. The 4×2 models offer multiple wheelbases, two automatic transmissions and three cabin layouts.
Updated Tector 7 engines
All models now receive the more powerful versions of the Tector 7 6-cylinder engine as standard.
- ML140: 207kW / 1,000Nm
- ML150/ML160/ML180: 235kW / 1,100Nm
The engines meet Euro 6 Step E emissions requirements using HI-SCR.
A ZF 8-speed auto is standard across 4×2 variants, while an Allison 6-speed is optional for low-speed, high-torque applications. Meritor rear axles with cross locks (standard or optional depending on model) support traction and performance under load.
Fuel-saving technology carried over from S-Way
IVECO has introduced a range of fuel-efficient features already seen in the S-Way heavy-duty platform, including:
- Engine idle cut-off after five minutes
- Eco Roll (ZF auto) to let the truck coast in neutral when conditions allow
- Eco Mode tuning to optimise power delivery and shift patterns
These systems collectively support lower whole-of-life costs—an ongoing priority for medium-duty buyers.
Significant safety lift
One of the biggest upgrades is the step-up in safety equipment. Standard features now include:
- Advanced Emergency Braking (AEBS)*
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)*
- Lane Departure Warning (LDWS)
- Blind Spot Information System (BSIS)
- Moving Off Information System (MOIS)
- Driver Drowsiness & Attention Warning (DDAW)
- Reversing camera system
- Emergency Stop Signal
- Hill Holder
*Not available on the 4×4 model.
The introduction of BSIS and MOIS is particularly relevant for urban operators where pedestrian and cyclist awareness is a growing operational and regulatory requirement.
All models retain the ECE R29 cabin structure, vented disc brakes with ABS/ESP (ESP 4×2 only) and LED lighting. A tyre pressure monitoring system is available as an option.
New cabin: digital, practical and driver-friendly
Inside, the Eurocargo adopts the updated IVECO family design with:
- New steering wheel with integrated controls and proximity key
- 10-inch configurable digital instrument cluster
- Column-mounted transmission selector
- Revised steering column with greater adjustment
- New 7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
- ISRI air-suspended seats, with optional Hi-Comfort versions featuring ventilation and more adjustability
These changes bring the Eurocargo in line with the growing expectation for passenger-car comfort levels in medium-duty trucks—particularly for operators spending long hours behind the wheel.
IVECO On telematics now standard-ready
For the first time in Eurocargo, IVECO On telematics is available, giving fleets access to:
- Driver-style and fuel efficiency reports
- Alerts for harsh braking and acceleration
- Predictive maintenance insights
- Remote diagnostics, teleservices and OTA (over-the-air) software updates through IVECO’s Uptime Centre
For fleets managing maintenance budgets, compliance reporting or driver coaching programs, the addition of this telematics capability is likely to be one of the most valuable upgrades in the model refresh.
ML150 4×4 upgraded for off-road operations
The ML150 4×4 continues to target emergency services, mining, utilities and forestry. It retains the 235kW/1,100Nm Tector 7 engine paired with a 6-speed manual, 15t GVM and 19t GCM.
Off-road hardware includes:
- Front, centre and rear diff locks
- Three-leaf front parabolic suspension
- Parabolic rear leaf suspension
- 26° approach and 28° ramp angles
- Steel bumper for protection
Despite its rugged specification, cabin features and safety systems largely match the 4×2 models.
Market positioning
IVECO Trucks Australia Managing Director Glen Dyer said the Eurocargo continues to stand out for its mix of comfort, safety and lower emissions—attributes he believes are “underrepresented in the medium duty truck market.”
He noted that these characteristics have kept Eurocargo at the top of the European sales charts and expects the new generation to “strike a chord with Australian and New Zealand buyers.”
IVECO backs all variants with a 5-year/300,000km warranty, with optional extensions to 5-year/600,000km, plus maintenance and repair agreements.
What this means for fleet buyers
The upgrades position Eurocargo as a more modern, competitive option in a segment increasingly shaped by safety technology, duty-cycle efficiency and driver comfort expectations. The arrival of IVECO On also aligns the range with telematics-driven fleet strategies now common across local government, construction, logistics and essential services.
The medium-duty segment is highly contested, but the Eurocargo refresh provides more tools for operators aiming to improve compliance, reduce downtime and offer better workplaces for drivers—without significant complexity added to vehicle operation.
