Mobility solutions provider, Jameel Motors, and the commercial fleet sector of Geely Holding Group, Farizon Auto, have signed a distribution agreement for Australia and plan to launch electric vehicles locally in H1 this year.
According to the official announcement, Australia is one of several countries chosen by Jameel Motors to distribute Geely-Farizon electric vehicles. Jameel Motors will launch the Farizon SV Cargo Van and H9E light-duty electric truck in both 4500kg and 8000kg GVM options, claiming the models will be available for purchase before mid-year.
The distribution agreement forms part of a major international collaboration across several markets, the announcement outlines. It is also central to Jameel Motors’ strategy to expand their green mobility solutions to new geographies, such as Australia.
Farizon is China’s first commercial vehicle brand to offer a full range of new energy products, including heavy trucks, light trucks, micro trucks, light commercial vehicles, and buses.
While the passenger car market has been flooded with new Chinese brands and electric models, typically undercutting established Japanese and European brands, the truck market has remained relatively traditional in its lineup.
However, in recent years the Foton T5, distributed through Foton Mobility Group, has dominated the electric truck market in Australia now sitting atop the electric light-duty sales ladder. Will the H9E give the dominant T5 a run for its money? Let’s see.
