Michelin has announced the official launch of MICHELIN Connected Fleet in Australia, using the Brisbane Truck Show as the platform to unveil its data-driven fleet management solutions. The service consolidates Michelin’s global fleet technology under one brand and aims to help local operators improve safety, cut costs, and increase operational efficiency.
Franck Estoquié, Country Manager for MICHELIN Connected Fleet Australia, said the Australian market plays a key role in the brand’s global expansion. “Our mission is to empower Australian fleet managers with advanced data-driven insights that improve decision-making, reduce costs, and enhance fleet performance,” he explained. “Our global expertise and local market understanding will allow us to provide tailored solutions that meet the unique demands of the Australian road transport sector.”
With a global footprint spanning 48 countries, MICHELIN Connected Fleet currently supports 70,000 customers operating 600,000 vehicles. The platform uses data collected from more than 300 million journeys annually, integrating solutions from Masternaut in Europe, NexTraq in North America, and Sascar in South America.
Fleet decision-makers visiting Stand 31 at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre will have the opportunity to experience MICHELIN Connected Fleet’s smart capabilities firsthand. These include:
- Real-time tracking for trucks, trailers, and cargo
- Driver behaviour analysis to enhance safety
- Fuel and cost optimisation tools
- Live tyre pressure monitoring and alerts
- Brake and bearing temperature monitoring
Sophie Foucque, CEO of MICHELIN Connected Fleet, highlighted the transformational role of fleet data. “As vehicle technology evolves, the ability to transform fleet data into actionable insights is a game-changer. MICHELIN Connected Fleet combines cutting-edge analytics with expert support to help businesses increase efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and enhance safety,” she said.
The launch marks the culmination of a two-year rollout in Australia, initially targeting heavy vehicle operators with 50 or more assets. With this national launch, the service is now accessible to a broader segment of the transport industry.
A compelling case study featured at the event showcases the tangible benefits of the platform. Freestone’s Transport, a well-established operator in the national freight market, upgraded 130 trailers with the MICHELIN Connected Fleet’s Trailer Premium solution. The result was a 90% reduction in tyre-related emergencies.
“Operators just love it. You don’t have to check tyre pressures anymore, and that’s a huge saving,” said Paul Freestone, Director of Freestone’s Transport. “But the biggest issues are tyre failures and brakes getting hot — with Trailer Premium we know what the problem is straight away.”
The system provides real-time alerts and temperature monitoring, allowing Freestone’s team to act before small issues escalate into major incidents. “We’re saving trailers, avoiding fires, and keeping drivers safe,” Freestone added.
