Ron Finemore Transport has added its first Mercedes-Benz Actros ProCabin to the fleet, shortly after the model’s Australian launch .
The logistics operator moved quickly to secure the new variant, which introduces a redesigned cab focused on aerodynamic efficiency and an expanded active safety package.
Daimler Truck Australia Pacific President and CEO, Daniel Whitehead, said Ron Finemore Transport’s reputation for safety and efficiency made it an early adopter of the model.
“Ron Finemore Transport’s focus on safety and efficiency is legendary within the industry, so we knew they would be keen to get into the amazing new Mercedes-Benz ProCabin,” Whitehead said .
He added that the truck had been “performing beyond expectations with efficiency” and that its advanced safety suite was being well received .
Early efficiency results
According to Ron Finemore Transport CEO James Dixon, the ProCabin has already delivered encouraging results during its first month of operation.
“It is still early on, but the ProCabin has already proven to be extremely efficient in its first month on the road,” Dixon said .
Dixon said the company’s decision to introduce the ProCabin aligns with its broader strategy.
“Ron Finemore Transport is proud to operate the safest, youngest and most modern fleet in Australia and we are committed to boosting efficiency, driving down emissions and adopting the safest vehicles that we can get our hands on,” he said .
Expanded safety suite
All Actros models now feature the Active Brake Assist 6 package as standard, incorporating five radars that provide a 270-degree view around the vehicle . The system supports the operation of Active Side Guard Assist 2 (ASGA) and is underpinned by a new electronics platform capable of processing data 20 times faster .
Dixon said the inclusion of the safety package was a key factor.
“We are also extremely pleased that it features the Active Brake Assist 6 safety package because we are fully committed to the safety of our drivers and other road users,” he said .
Daimler Truck Australia Pacific Vice President Sales, Marketing and Operations, Andrew Assimo, said the ProCabin demonstrates how design changes can influence operating costs.
“The ProCabin has only just launched and is already delivering real world savings for our customers,” Assimo said .
Aerodynamic redesign
The ProCabin features a redesigned front that removes gaps and joins to better manage airflow, guiding air around the cabin and into the cooling system . Additional elements, including new sail-shaped side air deflectors, a revised roof spoiler and an under-cab spoiler, are designed to reduce turbulence and improve overall airflow .
The Ron Finemore unit, delivered by Daimler Trucks Albury, carries the 2663 badge and is powered by a 16-litre Mercedes-Benz engine paired with a 12-speed Automated Manual Transmission . It is also fitted with a black Durabar bullbar developed with input from Mercedes-Benz engineers .
