When Tradezone Electricals set out to reinvent how electricians source their materials, the team knew fast delivery would be just as critical as an easy online checkout.
What started as a two-person operation on the Gold Coast has grown into a national logistics network employing more than 350 people—with a purpose-built fleet of Isuzu trucks driving its success.
“We recognised that the industry didn’t really have a wholesaler that was playing in the e-commerce space,” said Managing Director Robert Kingston. “We saw that as an opportunity and aggressively entered the market.”
With distribution centres now operating in every major capital city, Tradezone’s model relies on deep inventory and lightning-fast delivery. But when third-party carriers couldn’t keep up with customer expectations, the company took matters into its own hands—literally.
“We started purchasing trucks to manage that whole process from start to finish,” Kingston explained. “We purchased three, then another three… and fast forward a few years, we now have 50 in the fleet!”
Built for Purpose
Overseeing that growing operation is National Fleet Manager, Nyle Sunderland, who has built the fleet around three principles: safety, suitability, and serviceability.
The Isuzu FRR 107-210 has become a standout performer in Tradezone’s line-up, offering a balance of payload capacity and manoeuvrability suited to tight urban environments. Its 10,700 kg GVM, 5.2L turbo-diesel engine and six-speed automated manual transmission make it ideal for busy city delivery routes.
Smaller NNR models handle the final-mile work, while every truck in the fleet is fitted with essentials like tailgates and electronic pallet jacks to ensure deliveries can happen anywhere—whether the customer has a forklift or not.
“The other factor that plays into my decision making is safety, and the features on the Isuzu product are above any other vehicles that we looked at,” Sunderland said.
Partners in Performance
Tradezone’s partnership with Brisbane Isuzu has been key to building and maintaining its fit-for-purpose fleet. Sunderland works closely with Brisbane Isuzu’s Nick Greet to match each truck to operational needs, supported by Isuzu’s national dealer network to keep vehicles on the road.
“No matter where we are in the country, we can reach out to an Isuzu dealership and have trucks fixed, repaired, serviced,” she said. “That level of support gives us real peace of mind.”
Tradezone’s trucks are serviced every 15,000 kilometres—well ahead of standard intervals—to ensure uptime and reliability.
Delivering the Digital Promise
For Tradezone, the trucks are more than just delivery vehicles—they’re the link between a digital promise and a real-world outcome.
With live tracking, responsive service, and driver comfort built into every truck, Tradezone has created a logistics model that turns e-commerce efficiency into a tradie’s everyday reality.
“The feedback from our drivers is that they are such good trucks to drive—they handle really well compared to trucks they’ve operated in past companies,” Sunderland added.
In a business where a few hours can make or break a project, Tradezone’s partnership with Isuzu has ensured that “next-day delivery” isn’t just a marketing claim—it’s a competitive edge.
