Hino Australia has expanded its 300 Series light-duty truck range, with Euro 6-compliant diesel models now joining the existing Hybrid Electric line-up.
The update broadens customer choice across the light-duty segment, while introducing new safety, comfort and drivability features designed to support businesses operating in urban delivery, trade and regional freight applications.
Daniel Petrovski, Manager of Product Strategy at Hino Australia, said the latest 300 Series continues to build on the strengths that have made it a popular choice among Australian operators.
“The 2026 Hino 300 Series is engineered for businesses that demand exceptional performance, dependable reliability, and long-term durability,” said Petrovski.
“With proven drivelines that feature a true automatic transmission delivering effortless operation, advanced Hino SmartSafe safety features, and the support of Hino Advantage, the Hino 300 Series is built to handle the toughest workloads, day in and day out.”
Proven diesel driveline
At the heart of the diesel range is Hino’s four-litre engine paired with a true automatic transmission. Unlike automated manual transmissions, the Hino automatic delivers uninterrupted torque during gear changes, helping improve acceleration and overall drivability.
A new sequential shifter allows drivers to manually select gears when required or simply leave the vehicle in Drive mode, enabling the transmission to automatically select the most appropriate gear for the conditions.
According to Petrovski, the combination of the four-litre engine and automatic transmission also provides a significant towing advantage.
“The 300 Series provides our car-licenced customers with high levels of safety in an easy-to-drive, high payload vehicle, with the added advantage of an 8 tonne GCM capability,” he said.
The 4.5-tonne GVM models can tow a fully loaded 3.5-tonne trailer while remaining within the vehicle’s eight-tonne Gross Combined Mass rating.
Hybrid option remains unique
Hino’s Hybrid Electric models continue to be a key differentiator in the Australian market, with the manufacturer claiming it remains the only supplier of hybrid-electric trucks in the light-duty segment.
The hybrid system combines a diesel engine and electric motor operating in parallel, automatically switching between power sources to improve efficiency and reduce emissions without requiring driver input. Regenerative braking technology captures energy during deceleration and stores it in the battery for later use.
“We have an extensive model line-up from car-licenced 4.5 tonne GVM up to the maximum light-rigid licenced 8 tonne GVM,” Petrovski said.
“With a light-duty solution for every industry or task, the Hybrid Electric delivers fuel savings and emission reductions of up to 22% with no recharging or range limitations.”
Safety upgrades across the range
The updated 300 Series introduces LED headlamps and fog lamps across the range, with diesel variants also gaining Daytime Running Lamps to improve visibility.
All models continue to feature the Hino SmartSafe safety package as standard, including Autonomous Emergency Braking, Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Vehicle Stability Control and a reversing camera.
The upgrades reflect growing expectations from fleet operators for advanced safety technology to be standard across commercial vehicle fleets.
Driver-focused cabin
Hino has also retained a strong focus on driver comfort and ergonomics.
The cabin features a tilt and telescopic steering wheel, a high-contrast 4.2-inch TFT multi-information display and a 10.1-inch multimedia touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
Wide Cab variants include a torsion-bar suspended driver’s seat with a large adjustment range to accommodate drivers of varying sizes while helping reduce fatigue during long shifts.
“The Hino 300 Series was designed with the driver in mind and maintains exceptional levels of cab comfort and interior ergonomics, complemented by innovative, easy-to-use technology, further reducing driver fatigue,” said Petrovski.
Backed by Hino Advantage
The 300 Series is supported by Hino Advantage, which includes a five-year or 250,000-kilometre warranty, five years of roadside assistance and capped-price servicing using genuine Hino parts.
Hino Australia also confirmed that further expansion of the 300 Series range is planned, with additional Built to Go diesel and Hybrid Electric models expected to arrive in dealerships later this year.
“Additionally, we will continue to expand the range with even more new models over the next 12 months,” Petrovski said.
The expanded Hino 300 Series range is available now through Hino dealerships across Australia.
