The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) has celebrated industry leadership in training, maintenance and technical achievement, announcing the winners of its 2025 awards during the Castrol Awards Dinner in Melbourne.
The event, part of the Technology and Maintenance Conference (TMC), recognised Divall’s Earthmoving and Bulk Haulage, Scott Gardiner of Australia Post, and engineer Chris Loose for their outstanding contributions to safety, innovation and workforce development.
Divall’s Earthmoving and Bulk Haulage of Goulburn, NSW received the 2025 National Training Excellence Award, presented by Brett Patterson, Director, Central Region at the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR). Sponsored by bp Australia, Castrol Australia and the NHVR, the award highlights operators that demonstrate a strong commitment to workforce capability and safety through structured training and development programs.
Divall’s has built a comprehensive approach that starts with youth engagement and extends through apprenticeships, re-skilling and inclusion initiatives. The company’s partnerships with local schools, the Police Citizens Youth Club and NSW Corrective Services have created employment and career pathways across quarry operations, civil construction and engineering. More than 40 apprentices and trainees are currently participating in the program.
Scott Gardiner of Australia Post Group took home the 2025 Craig Roseneder Award for Technical and Maintenance Excellence. With more than three decades in the industry, Scott’s career spans hands-on workshop roles to senior fleet management. His leadership has driven innovations in vehicle safety, emissions reduction and compliance across the Australia Post and StarTrack fleets, including PBS vehicles, underrun protection and electric motorcycles. His award includes a study tour to the 2026 Technology and Maintenance Council Annual Meeting in Nashville, USA, along with registration for next year’s ATA TMC.
Chris Loose, an engineering consultant and long-time industry advocate, received the 2025 Castrol Industry Achievement Award. Chris’s career includes senior technical roles with Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner, and contributions through the ATA and Truck Industry Council on key safety standards and emissions regulations. Since 2023, he has led major updates to the ATA’s Technical Advisory Procedures (TAPs), providing vital guidance on issues such as conspicuity markings, underrun protection and certified load restraint systems.
The Craig Roseneder and Castrol Industry Achievement Awards were presented by Vanda Power, Commercial Manager – Direct at Castrol Australia.
