Penske Australia & New Zealand has appointed Gary Bone as Executive General Manager of On-Highway, following the resignation of Craig Lee, who will leave the business in June after more than 11 years with the company.
Bone joined Penske in early 2025 as General Manager of Eastern Operations, overseeing the company’s New South Wales and Queensland operations across both on- and off-highway services.
Prior to joining Penske, Bone held senior executive roles with Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks, bringing extensive experience across the heavy vehicle sector.
Penske Australia & New Zealand Managing Director Hamish Christie-Johnston said Lee had played a significant role in the company’s growth and development over the past decade.
“After 11 years with Penske, Craig has decided to step down from his role as executive general manager of on-highway to lead a privately owned business in the road transport industry,” Christie-Johnston said.
“During his extensive tenure, Craig has held several senior roles within our organisation, culminating in leading the wholesale and retail truck business.
“He never shied away from the toughest challenges and consistently strengthened the areas of the business under his leadership.
“With our sincere thanks and best wishes, Craig will conclude his time with Penske mid-year.”
Christie-Johnston said Bone had quickly established himself within the organisation and was the logical choice to take over the senior leadership role.
“We are delighted that Gary has accepted the responsibility of succeeding Craig in the role,” he said.
“In his time with the business, Gary has made a strong impact and was the natural choice to step into this position. His appointment is a testament to the depth and capability of our senior leadership team.”
In the new role, Bone will oversee truck and bus retail and fleet sales, OEM relationships, on-highway aftersales operations, dealer development, sales administration, and Penske’s on-highway vehicle processing centre in Wacol, Queensland.
The appointment comes as Penske continues to expand its presence across the Australian and New Zealand transport sectors, representing brands including MAN, Western Star, Dennis Eagle and Detroit.
