Easyshed, Australia’s largest shed brand, has taken another step in strengthening its direct-to-consumer (D2C) model by introducing Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks into its delivery fleet.
Founded in 1983 and proudly Australian-owned, Easyshed has grown into a regional success story with a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Albury, New South Wales. As one of Australia’s fastest-growing D2C tech companies, the business views delivery as a critical extension of its customer-first approach.
To support this, Easyshed has rolled out three Mercedes-Benz Actros 2663 trucks into its ‘Big Sheds’ delivery fleet, with plans to add more over the next 12 months. Complementing these are three Fuso Canter trucks for metro ‘Garden Shed’ deliveries, with another three scheduled to join the fleet later this year.
Vertical Integration to Protect Customer Experience
Easyshed’s CFO, Johan Andersson, explained that owning the delivery function is key to maintaining service standards.
“Being an e-commerce business means that the delivery team and their equipment are the face of our company. It’s critical for us that we control that process, to enable us to deliver a high-quality product with the very best customer experience, right across Australia,” Andersson said.
He added that Mercedes-Benz and Fuso vehicles align with the company’s data-led, technology-driven mindset: “At our core we are a data-led tech company, so it makes sense to use the most technologically advanced vehicles to deliver our products, that prioritise safety, efficiency and connectivity.”
Safety and Sustainability
Both the Actros and Canter trucks feature advanced safety technology, including the latest generation active emergency braking that can bring the vehicle to a stop if a potential collision is detected.
Sustainability also plays a role. The Mercedes-Benz Actros 2663 is powered by a 16-litre OM473 six-cylinder engine producing 630hp, paired with a 12-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). Importantly, it meets stringent Euro 6 emission standards, reducing hydrocarbons by 70 per cent, NOx by up to 80 per cent, and particulates by up to 66 per cent compared to older standards.
Daimler Trucks, including Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner, and Fuso, have already clocked more than 3 billion customer kilometres with Euro 6 (or equivalent) engines in Australia, proving their durability and efficiency.
Local Dealer Partnership
The trucks were delivered through Daimler Trucks Albury, the 2022 Daimler Truck Australia Pacific Dealer of the Year, underscoring the strong regional ties behind Easyshed’s continued growth.
Daimler Truck Australia Pacific Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Andrew Assimo, welcomed the partnership: “Easyshed is an amazing regional success story and we are excited Daimler Truck vehicles are delivering its high-quality products to its customers.”
