In an exclusive media briefing ahead of the 2025 Brisbane Truck Show, Isuzu Australia unveiled its most comprehensive product overhaul in over two decades. The new MY25 truck range, spanning from 4,500 kg GVM light-duty models to 32-tonne heavy-duty configurations, was described by Simon Humphries, Head of Product Management and Chief Engineer, as a generational leap forward in safety, efficiency, and driver experience.
“This is the greatest Isuzu product range change in history, certainly for Australia,” Humphries said. “In fact, we think it’s the most comprehensive product release in one year by any truck supplier in the Australian market.”
A New Era for Isuzu
The MY25 launch features 179 variants across the N Series (light-duty), F Series (medium-duty), and FX/FY Series (heavy-duty). Every model has been updated or redesigned, with new cabs, advanced powertrains, and cutting-edge safety systems now standard across the range.
“It’s not just about meeting regulations—we’ve gone above and beyond,” Humphries said. “We’ve introduced new engines, upgraded our safety suite with features like Lane Keep Assist, and even developed new bull bars that preserve radar performance for ADAS functions.”
The rollout is staged, with some models already arriving in dealerships from June and more expected from November 2025. Dealer training, roadshows and drive events will continue through 2026.
Designed with the Driver in Mind
Isuzu placed significant emphasis on driver comfort and usability, ensuring every model—no matter the size—offers a familiar, car-like environment.
“Whether it’s the smallest N Series or the biggest FY, they all feature modern, intuitive cabins,” Humphries said. “We’ve introduced features like digital dashboards, passive entry and start, electric park brakes, and upgraded climate control. Even the glass now provides 99% UV protection to keep drivers comfortable.”
The NKR, a new addition to the N Series, is designed to appeal to operators stepping up from utes or car-licence vehicles. At just under two metres in cab height and available at 4,500 kg GVM, it offers light-duty capability in a highly manoeuvrable package.
“We see this as a real growth opportunity—giving customers more payload and durability than a ute, but with similar ease of use,” Humphries said.
Cleaner, Stronger, Smarter
Engine upgrades are a key part of the MY25 refresh, with new Euro VI-compliant engines across all segments. The 4JZ1 engine in the N Series offers a flatter torque curve and greater fuel efficiency. The F Series introduces the DB6A 6.7-litre six-cylinder engine paired exclusively with Allison automatic transmissions, and the FX/FY range is powered by the Euro VI 6UZ1 9.8-litre engine.
“We’ve managed to hit the emissions targets without resorting to complex EGR systems in some engines,” Humphries noted. “That reduces downtime and total cost of ownership.”
Isuzu has also introduced a new 9-speed dual clutch transmission developed in-house. It delivers smooth, efficient shifting with a torque converter for low-speed manoeuvrability—ideal for urban delivery environments.
Safety Beyond Compliance
Safety is at the heart of the new range. Every model features a comprehensive ADAS suite, with higher-end models receiving unique features like Lane Keep Assist, full-disc brakes with EBS, and optional passenger airbags. Even small details like wet wiper technology—washer jets integrated into the wiper arms—were designed to improve pedestrian protection by reducing protrusions on the cab.
“We’ve thought about everything from pedestrian safety to reducing driver fatigue,” Humphries said. “And we’ve done it while ensuring body builders can still work easily with our chassis thanks to a new rivet-less top flange frame.”
Built for Australia’s Future
This new range not only reflects Isuzu’s engineering strength, but also its vision for the future. With the MY25 platform, the company is preparing for next-generation fuel technologies—including battery electric, fuel cell, and renewable diesel (HVO)—currently under trial in Japan and Australia.
“We’ve built flexibility into the range to accommodate future powertrains as the market evolves,” Humphries confirmed. “It’s an exciting time to be part of the Australian transport industry.”
With product arriving now and more to come in the next 12 months, Isuzu’s MY25 range is more than a truck refresh—it’s a platform for the next decade of innovation.
