Isuzu Australia Limited has reached a major milestone in the local commercial vehicle market, celebrating the delivery of its 300,000th truck sold in Australia. The landmark vehicle was handed over to Victorian construction company Able Constructions and Management, reinforcing Isuzu’s long-standing position as the country’s leading truck brand .
The milestone coincides with Isuzu’s 37th consecutive year at the top of the Australian truck sales charts and follows the launch of its all-new MY25 model range. The 300,000th vehicle delivered was a MY25 NQR 88-190 Crew Cab, supplied to the family-owned Melbourne builder as part of its growing fleet.
A fit-for-purpose choice
Able Constructions has been operating for 25 years across Melbourne’s growth corridors, delivering projects that range from commercial fit-outs to medical centres and high-rise developments. The company selected the NQR Crew Cab to meet the practical demands of its varied work environments.
The 8,800kg GVM truck was chosen for its balance of payload capacity and manoeuvrability, particularly for operating across large greenfield sites as well as confined urban locations.
“We’ve got the longest wheelbase you can get with the crew cab,” said Able Constructions Project Manager, known as ‘Fonz’.
“It was easy enough to just get a bigger truck, but being a light truck, it is a lot easier to manoeuvre in tighter spaces and the crew cab means I can bring the boys with me, and on rainy days, we can keep gear dry in the cabin.
“It’s the perfect tool for the job.”
The vehicle is also fitted with a 4,500kg rated tow bar, supporting Able’s need to move equipment between sites.
Technology and safety in focus
Able’s team highlighted the step-change in technology delivered with the MY25 N Series, particularly the standard safety systems now available in the light-duty range.
Describing the driving experience, Fonz said the truck felt less like a traditional work vehicle and more like a passenger car.
“The Full-Speed Adaptive Cruise Control makes it very easy to drive. It’s like an autopilot airplane!”
The MY25 N Series includes a suite of intelligent safety technologies such as Advanced Emergency Braking and Lane Departure Warning, aligning with growing industry expectations around driver safety and fatigue management.
Market leadership milestone
The delivery reflects broader trends across the Australian heavy vehicle market. Industry data shows the national truck fleet continues to expand, with more than 677,000 light to heavy-duty trucks registered nationally and average annual growth of 2.7 per cent.
Within this growing market, Isuzu maintained a strong position in 2025, selling 12,420 trucks and capturing 27.5 per cent of total truck sales. The brand also held a 50.6 per cent share of the light-duty segment and 49 per cent of the medium-duty segment .
Built on long-term trust
Craig White, Head of Sales at Isuzu Australia Limited, said the milestone reflected decades of partnership with Australian businesses.
“Reaching 300,000 sales is a powerful reflection of the countless partnerships we’ve forged with hard-working Australian companies like Able Constructions,” White said.
“This milestone coincides with our latest and most impressive product offering now on sale across the country.”
The NQR 88-190 Crew Cab is powered by Isuzu’s Euro VI-compliant 5.2-litre 4HK1-TCC engine, producing 140kW and 513Nm, paired with a six-speed automated manual transmission.
“Our all-new MY25 N Series, featuring our Euro VI compliant 4HK1 engine and comprehensive safety technology, represents the next generation of Isuzu’s commitment to reliability, innovation, and driver comfort,” White said.
“It’s this relentless focus on delivering what our customers need that secures our position at the forefront of the industry, year after year.”
Looking ahead
For Able Constructions, the new truck is expected to play a central role in day-to-day operations as both a team transporter and mobile work platform.
“I’d definitely go for an Isuzu again,” Fonz said.
“We’re extremely happy with them… if there is another option to buy another truck, we’ll definitely be going back.”
As Isuzu looks beyond the 300,000-unit milestone, the delivery highlights the brand’s continued focus on fit-for-purpose vehicles that align with the evolving needs of Australian construction, trade and logistics businesses.
