IVECO Trucks Australia has recognised the best of its technical talent through the first-ever National Master Technician Tournament, bringing together skilled professionals from its 60-plus dealer and service network.
The competition was open to all IVECO technicians, from apprentices to experienced workshop leaders. Held over three rounds through the IVECO Web Academy, participants faced 75 challenging questions covering servicing, maintenance, and fault diagnosis across the full IVECO product range.
Out of 50 competitors, Justin Abood, Workshop Foreman at IVECO Sydney, claimed the top prize. He was joined on the podium by Jonothan Elias, Senior Technician and Electrician at Black Truck Sales (second place), and Nathan Wigger, Workshop Foreman at Prestige Truck Centre Melbourne (third place).
IVECO’s Head of Network Development, Customer Experience and Training, John-Paul Falvo, said the inaugural event had exceeded expectations.
“The tournament provided a fantastic means by which technicians could test their knowledge against counterparts from across the country in a friendly yet competitive environment, while further honing their skills, which ultimately is a positive for IVECO owners.”
The program was overseen by Jason Mobberley, IVECO Manager, Customer and Product Support, who confirmed planning is already underway for 2026 with an expanded scope and new challenges.
For IVECO, the tournament highlights the importance of ongoing training and recognition in ensuring customer vehicles are serviced by some of the industry’s most capable technicians. With a product range that spans light vans to heavy-duty off-roaders, the company emphasises that the skills of its service teams are critical to customer safety, reliability, and efficiency.
