Longreach travel enterprise, Outback Pioneers, expanded its fleet in February when it took delivery of a new Volvo B8R Euro 6 coach with a customised Irizar body.
Outback Pioneers founder and director Richard Kinnon was on hand to accept the keys from the Volvo and Irizar teams in Wacol, Brisbane.
“More guests are coming to Longreach, there’s more space on our restored Pride of the Murray paddlewheeler, which we launched in 2022, and now we need more room on our coaches to transfer guests to the Thomson River,” Richard Kinnon said.
“We always do what it takes to give our guests the best experience and, for us, that meant the safety and comfort of the Volvo-Irizar coach to start their evening before they board our beautiful old paddlewheeler to enjoy their cruise through a bush sunset.”
The new 350hp coach will also transfer guests to Nogo Station and on the Winton day tour and pick up larger groups from the station and airport.
“When you’re in the outback, you need vehicles you can rely on and Volvo was the obvious choice,” Richard Kinnon said.
“It’s also very fuel-efficient and packed with safety features so we know we’re protecting our guests and our environment.”
The luxury Irizar coach body has 48 reclining seats, dual-zone air-conditioning and wide doorway to make every journey smooth sailing for guests.
Volvo Bus Australia’s General Manager Mitch Peden said, “We’re very excited to see this premium B8R Euro 6 coach handed over to the Outback Pioneers team. We worked closely with one of our trusted bodybuild suppliers, Irizar, and we are confident this excellent coach will provide reliability, quality and most importantly, unparalleled safety, to the operators and riders alike”.
“The Volvo B8R is primarily known for its fuel efficiency and durability – ensuring maximum uptime for our customers.” Mr Peden said.
Irizar’s Sales Manager for Asia Pacific, Luke Eldred, will personally delivered the new coach to Longreach.
In 2022, Outback Pioneers welcomed more than 22,000 guests for holidays and experiences in Longreach.
