Penske New Zealand has strengthened its national support network by welcoming three new truck parts and service dealers in Whangarei, Gisborne, and Blenheim.
The additions – Total Parts and Service (TPS) in Gisborne, Whangarei Diesels, and On Site Mechanical Repairs in Blenheim – will provide servicing for MAN Truck & Bus, Western Star Trucks, and Detroit brands.
Local businesses join the network
Each of the new partners brings strong regional experience and long-standing customer relationships.
- TPS, founded more than 15 years ago by managing director David Scammell, has built a reputation for service in the Gisborne region.“The team at TPS and I are thrilled to add the power of Penske to our service offering,” said Scammell. “By adding the MAN, Western Star, and Detroit brands, our increased offering to customers is a win for them and us.”
- Whangarei Diesels, led by dealer principal Joel Cleaver, has also been in operation for close to 15 years.“It was always my childhood dream to be a diesel mechanic and open my own business,” said Cleaver. “Through the good times and the challenges, I have always focused on customer support and being there for those who rely on me to keep their business moving.”
- On Site Mechanical Repairs, based in Blenheim, was established almost a decade ago and specialises in heavy equipment repair across the Marlborough region and beyond.“With over forty years of combined experience, our team operates with a mantra to do it once and do it right,” said director Ben McMaster. “We’re very proud to partner with Penske and provide our current and future customers with premium products that complement our current offering.”
Customer support focus
Kevin Smith, general manager of Penske New Zealand, said the additions would give operators greater confidence on the road.
“With these new partnerships, customers across New Zealand can be confident that wherever their travels take them, they will have the support they need to keep them going,” he said.
“With expanded network coverage, our dedicated Penske dealer support team, unmatched warranty offering, and low-cost repair and maintenance packages, there has never been a better time to buy an MAN or Western Star.”
Strengthening aftersales capability
To support the growing dealer network, Penske New Zealand has also announced two key appointments:
- Andrew Hodgkinson – national aftersales support manager: responsible for technical support, repair and maintenance contracts, training, dealer support, and sales support teams.
- Warren Smith – dealer support manager: working alongside the dealer network to deliver tailored commercial vehicle solutions for customers.
What this means for fleet operators
For fleet managers, the expansion provides:
- More service points across key regional locations, reducing downtime when vehicles are off the road.
- Improved access to parts and warranty support for MAN, Western Star, and Detroit vehicles.
- Closer relationships with experienced local operators, many of whom have decades of knowledge in heavy equipment servicing.
The strengthened dealer network reflects a broader trend of OEMs and distributors investing in regional service coverage to meet the needs of fleets operating nationwide.
