Penske Truck Leasing has opened its first stand-alone facility in the southern hemisphere, adding a second Melbourne location to its Australian network.
The new branch, located in Pakenham’s south-east growth corridor, complements the existing site at Altona North in Melbourne’s west and is strategically positioned near the Princes Freeway to better serve operators on the city’s east side.
A Facility Designed for Fleet Needs
The Pakenham branch features three workshop service bays, a wash bay, and a dedicated parts inventory. It also houses a fleet of new trucks available for short- or long-term hire.
“Since launching the Penske Truck Leasing business in Australia, we have steadily grown our footprint to meet market demands,” said Adrian Beach, Managing Director of Penske Truck Leasing.
Beach explained that many east-side customers previously had to travel across Melbourne to access the Altona site. “Our new location will be a huge convenience for them, and it also opens the door to fleets who couldn’t justify making that journey to Altona.”
Local Support Network
The Pakenham site is positioned within a network of existing industry suppliers. “Pakenham also has a built-in support network, with most of our existing vendors and partners nearby and open for trading. We’re minutes away from key dealerships, parts and tyre suppliers, and even smash repair shops,” Beach said.
A Diverse Truck Fleet
Penske Truck Leasing offers a mix of medium- and heavy-duty prime movers as well as rigids, with models from MAN, Hino, and Western Star.
“Our fleet is spec’d to deliver maximum safety, fuel economy, and driver satisfaction. We’re proud of our diverse line-up and OEM partnerships and feel we have a solution for almost every Australian on-highway freight task,” Beach said.
Flexible Leasing and Rental Options
The company provides a range of rental and lease solutions tailored to customer requirements.
“Our dedicated associates focus on building relationships and understanding our customers’ unique needs,” Beach explained. “We’ve learned that a one-size-fits-all approach isn’t effective in Australia. Of course, the full-service lease product is highly bespoke, from the vehicle specs and livery to the support services included in the package, but even our short-term rental rates are customised.”
He added that the new site would strengthen the company’s ability to provide the right truck when and where customers need it.
What It Means for Fleet Operators
For fleet buyers, the Pakenham facility provides:
- Easier access to trucks for businesses located east of Melbourne.
- Localised service and parts support, reducing downtime.
- A choice of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles across multiple OEMs.
- Flexible lease and rental options aligned to operational needs.
By reducing travel times and expanding availability, Penske’s latest investment highlights the growing demand for tailored truck leasing solutions in Australia’s freight market.
