At the National Diesel Dirt and Turf Expo in Sydney, Porter Equipment had a range of equipment on display including the new Portafill compact range of crushers and screening equipment.
We spoke to Michael Carter, National Sales Manager at Porter Equipment, the stand to find our more about their objectives for the three day expo.
“It’s a good opportunity to catch up with our existing customers, people who we see year in year out, and we’ve already done that with a few clients,” says Carter.
“It’s also a good opportunity to meet new guys. The last three years we have created quite a few new customers out of the show. Probably more than anything it’s flag flying, brand building and awareness, though we do make sales off the stand.”
“We have a broad range of products so we cover civil, recycling and quarrying. We have a broad network of customers with the two parts of our business. There’s Porter Equipment and then there’s Porter Hire. Porter Hire uses our equipment, our brands, but they hire out on the national basis. And then, equipment sales cross sells the product.”
“We’re here with Portafill for the first time which is a compact range of crushing and screening equipment out of Ireland, its well know in the market but we’re the new distributors for them. It’s a nice compliment for Sandvik for us and we’ve got high hopes for it.”
The Porter Group started in New Zealand in 1945 with Arthur Porter who started to import heavy equipment for roads and other construction equipment. They now operate in Australia, Papa New Guinea and the United States with Porter Equipment, Porter Hire, Porter Parts and Porter Finance.
