Subaru Australia will become the exclusive supplier of on-track support vehicles for the Repco Supercars Championship from 2026, expanding its responsibilities across Safety, Course and Medical roles while also continuing its involvement with the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship at Phillip Island.
The new agreement sees Subaru take full responsibility for the championship’s on-track support fleet across the 2026 and 2027 seasons. Already serving as the Official Course Car Vehicle, the brand will now also provide the Official Safety Car Vehicle and Official Medical Vehicle across the national calendar.
The Subaru WRX AWD tS Spec B will operate as both the Shannons Safety Car and Shannons Course Car, while the Subaru Outback Wilderness will serve as the Shannons Medical Car. The expanded role places Subaru vehicles at the centre of race operations in situations where rapid response and reliability are essential.
Subaru Australia Head of Brand Trent Whitechurch said the partnership’s growth reflects an alignment between the brand and the championship.
“This partnership continues to evolve in a way that feels authentic to Subaru. Expanding our role within Supercars allows us to contribute meaningfully to the championship, particularly in areas where safety and reliability are paramount. As we enter our third year with Supercars, we’re proud to be deepening our involvement and connecting with fans at events across the 2026 season and beyond.”
Supercars Chief Revenue Officer Jamie Black said the arrangement supports the operational backbone of the category.
“Subaru’s expanded involvement in 2026, combined with Shannons Insurance supporting our refreshed Safety Car program, strengthens a partnership that plays a vital role in delivering safe and exciting racing,” Black said.
“With the on-track action as wild as ever, it’s essential that our Safety, Course and Medical vehicles are ready for anything throughout the 2026 season. We’re thrilled to have Subaru step into the full suite of vehicles and can’t wait to see the new WRX AWD tS Spec B and Outback Wilderness on track in Sydney.”
Alongside its Supercars expansion, Subaru will return to Phillip Island for a second year in a safety role at WorldSBK. The all-electric Subaru Solterra will again act as Official Safety Car, assisting officials in assessing track conditions and responding when required during the event weekend.
Beyond operational duties, Subaru’s presence across both championships will extend to fan engagement, hospitality and vehicle displays at selected rounds. Activities are expected to include vehicle walk-throughs and hot laps aimed at linking Subaru’s motorsport involvement with its broader product range.
The expanded programs underline Subaru Australia’s ongoing commitment to local motorsport and its focus on showcasing vehicle capability in high-pressure environments.
