Airtec Corporation has received the HVIA Product Innovation Award for its Australian-made AXS SmartOBM solution, recognising the company’s ongoing focus on innovation within the freight and heavy vehicle industry.
The award highlights products that deliver practical, real-world outcomes for operators, with SmartOBM designed to help fleets better understand and manage vehicle mass through real-time on-board measurement.
Airtec Corporation chief executive officer David Hewett said the recognition reflected the collective effort behind the product’s development.
“Our team’s dedication to delivering SmartOBM solutions that improve productivity and provide real world benefits is at the heart of this achievement,” Hewett said.
“We are grateful for the support of our customers, manufacturers, and telematics partners, who make our success possible.”
Designed for real-world operations
SmartOBM is an Australian-engineered solution that provides real-time on-board mass measurement, helping transport operators manage loads more effectively, support compliance requirements and improve operational productivity.
By giving drivers and fleet managers greater visibility of vehicle mass during operation, the system aims to reduce the risk of overloading while supporting more efficient use of vehicle capacity across freight tasks.
The HVIA Product Innovation Award places SmartOBM among a group of technologies recognised for advancing safety, efficiency and productivity in Australia’s heavy vehicle sector, underscoring the role of locally developed solutions in addressing everyday transport challenges.
