Ford Trucks and IVECO have announced a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) for the design and engineering of a new heavy-duty truck cab, turning last year’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) into an operational project.
The new cabin will enhance the competitiveness of both brands, offering a solution for the EU’s incoming Direct Vision Standard with improved aerodynamics for reduced carbon emissions.
According to the announcement the two brands will end up with a new top-line modular cabin family with state-of-the-art technology, pooling resources with a total expenditure of euro 343 million.
The focus will be on cabin comfort, safety, aerodynamics and modularity, while prioritising cost-efficiency and full compatibility across all powertrains, and each company will manufacture and assemble the cabin in their own facilities, with production-ready examples due by 2028.

Iveco Group President, Truck Business Unit, Luca Sra, echoed these sentiments, suggesting the partnership will allow both companies to remain at the forefront of the heavy vehicle market.
