One thing a party hire company needs to be is reliable and that’s exactly what the Hino and Toyota fleet of vehicles has given to Adelaide-based Olympic Party Hire.
“Before we became involved with Hino and Toyota we used to use some vans, and they used to break down a lot, and they were unreliable,” said Matt Roberts, one of three brothers who founded the business 10 years ago.
“With us, we need to get to events. We need to be there on time. We need to get set up on time,” said Roberts, adding, that since they brought the Hino and Toyota vehicles into their fleet, “The main thing is they have been reliable. I don’t think one of our trucks has ever broken down.”
Olympic is celebrating a decade in business this year.
“My brothers and I saw the opportunity to open a very small business that hires out event furniture to those wanting to celebrate life events. Since then we have grown to be one of the leading party hire companies in Adelaide,” said Roberts on the Olympic Party Hire website.
The business supplies products and services for weddings, festivals, large public events such as the Tour Down Under and the Adelaide 500 Supercars.
Products and services include, cool rooms, photo booths and gym equipment as well as everyday party essentials such as glassware, crockery and cutlery.
Olympic’s relationship with Hino started out from a cold call, with a Hino distributor CMI Hino Adelaide knocking on the door.
“He introduced us to the Hino 300 with a pantech on the back and our first purchase was one of them through Toyota Finance. That was about eight or nine years ago now, and since then, periodically, probably every six months, we were purchasing another 300 series.”
Today the Olympic fleet of about 30 vehicles comprises some 13 Hino 300 pantech trucks, as well as several from the larger Hino 500 series with tray backs for carting marquee and weights used to hold the tents down. The fleet also includes seven HiLux WorkMates, and a couple of other Toyota dual cab utes.
All the vehicles are fitted with telematics. “That can tell you who is driving, and whether they are moving or idling. We use it to coordinate the use of the vehicles,” said Roberts.
The fleet manager, who also oversees all the party hire group’s logistics of getting supplies to locations on time, ensures vehicles are serviced and maintained.
“The Hino and Toyota are so reliable. We are a happy customer,” said Roberts.
