Volvo Trucks has added two more models to its growing list of five-star performers under the Euro NCAP heavy truck safety ratings, with the Volvo FH standard cab now achieving the program’s highest possible score.
The latest result means both the Volvo FH 4×2 tractor and Volvo FH 6×2 rigid with standard cab configuration have secured five stars, extending Volvo’s clean sweep across the first two rounds of Euro NCAP testing for heavy commercial vehicles.
With the addition of the standard cab variants, Volvo now has six truck models carrying a five-star Euro NCAP rating:
- Volvo FM 4×2 tractor
- Volvo FM 6×2 rigid
- Volvo FH 4×2 tractor
- Volvo FH 6×2 rigid
- Volvo FH Aero 4×2 tractor
- Volvo FH Aero 6×2 rigid
According to Volvo, all six models also meet Euro NCAP’s City Safe criteria, reflecting strong direct vision performance and the effectiveness of active safety systems designed to protect vulnerable road users in urban traffic environments.
“We have once again received proof that Volvo delivers on its promise – safety is and always will be our priority in everything we do,” said Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks. “This does not mean that we can relax. We will continue to innovate to be at the forefront when it comes to safety, to protect drivers and all other road users.”
Euro NCAP launched its first safety rating scheme for heavy commercial trucks in 2024, with Volvo becoming the first manufacturer to achieve the maximum five-star rating under the new framework. A five-star score indicates that a truck meets or exceeds benchmarks across areas including driver support technologies and collision avoidance performance.
The continued five-star results reinforce Volvo Trucks’ stated long-term ambition of a zero-accident future, with ongoing development focused not only on protecting occupants and other road users, but also on systems that anticipate risks and help prevent incidents before they occur.
