Attendees at the upcoming TruckShow X in the Hunter Valley will be able to see and drive a range of low and zero emissions trucks from Hino Australia.
The theme of 2026 TruckShow X is ‘Driving the Future’ with a particular focus on decarbonisation, productivity, efficiency and safety.
“At this year’s TruckShow X, Hino will display a Hybrid Electric cab chassis and will also have a Hybrid Electric Tilt Tray and a Hybrid Electric car-licenced van available to drive,” said Daniel Petrovski, Manager – Product Strategy for Hino Australia.
“Australia’s only Hybrid Electric truck range has an extensive model line-up from car-licenced 4.5 tonne GVM up to light rigid-licenced 8 tonne GVM.
“The Hybrid Electric is a compelling option for customers based on the balance of cost, range and payload with the benefit of real-world, immediate savings on fuel and emissions,” said Mr Petrovski.
“To reinforce our long-term vision for alternative propulsion, customers will also be able to see our Hino Dutro (300 Series) Z-EV walk-through van with an ultra-low floor.
“The Dutro Z-EV features a 50kW electric motor mounted under the cab, which drives the front wheels, and has a compact battery mounted beneath the floor of the cargo area,” said Mr Petrovski.
Hybrid Delivers Safety and Savings
Compared to an equivalent diesel truck, a 300 Series Hybrid Electric can significantly reduce a customer’s fuel costs by as much as 22% in Standard Cab and 24% in Wide Cab variants.
“With the current price of diesel, the case for the Hino Hybrid is even more compelling with specific customers seeing savings of over $50,000 during the lifetime of their truck ownership,” said Mr Petrovski.
The Hybrid Electric meets Euro 6 emission standards and uses a proven Hino N04C-WR four cylinder common-rail injected turbo-diesel engine that produces 150hp (110kW) and 470Nm of torque, which is delivered in combination with the electric motor, with maximum torque available at a very low 1200rpm.
All Hino 300 Series light-duty trucks feature Hino SmartSafe, a comprehensive safety package with advanced driver-assist technology that takes an active focus in protecting the lives of all road users.
Hino SmartSafe includes a Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Pedestrian Detection (PD) and Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS).
This is in addition to Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), reverse camera, dual SRS airbags, four-wheel disc brakes UN ECE R29 cab strength certified and hill easy start.
Like all Hino products, the 300 Series Hybrid Electric is supported by Hino Advantage, a suite of business solutions that are designed to reduce costs over the life of the vehicle.
This includes 5 Years Roadside Assist, capped price servicing, Hino Genuine Parks, Hino finance options and customer support provisions via the Hino Customer Support Centre.
All Hino 300 Series Hybrid Electric models come with a 5 Years or 250,000km standard warranty, whichever comes first.
