A new Daimler Trucks dealership in Townsville has officially opened, delivering expanded service capacity and infrastructure designed to support heavy vehicle operators working in some of Australia’s toughest operating environments.
The purpose-built facility, operated by RGM Maintenance, features 44 vehicle bays and specialised maintenance equipment, including a 20-tonne heavy lift crane, positioning it as one of the largest truck service operations in the region.
Located at Heleen Downs, the dealership sells and supports Freightliner and Mercedes-Benz Trucks, along with Fuso trucks and buses, providing a full-service hub for fleets operating across North Queensland and beyond.
Daimler Truck Australia Pacific President and CEO, Daniel Whitehead, said the new investment reflects the demands placed on heavy vehicles operating in regional and remote areas.
“The team works on the biggest combinations that traverse some of the roughest roads in harshest conditions, so it is important to have such advanced maintenance facilities,” Whitehead said.
The dealership has a strong track record within the Daimler network, having been named joint winner of the Daimler Trucks Dealer of the Year in 2025, and previously winning the award outright in 2024 and 2018.
The opening ceremony was attended by Queensland Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, Jarrod Bleijie MP, with the project jointly funded by RGM Maintenance and the Queensland Government. The facility will also play a role in supporting Australian Defence Force platform sustainment activities.
Beyond its technical capability, the dealership continues a long-standing local presence in Townsville, with a focus on employment and veteran recruitment. The business supports personnel transitioning from Defence service into civilian careers aligned with the defence industry supply chain.
The new site has also achieved Daimler Trucks Elite Support certification, indicating it meets the manufacturer’s standards for facilities, service capability and customer support.
For fleet operators in regional Queensland, the investment signals a continued shift toward larger, more capable service centres designed to handle higher productivity vehicles, complex combinations and the growing technical requirements of modern heavy vehicle fleets.
