The IVECO Daily Cab Chassis 50C has been named the 2026 Fleet Truck of the Year – Light Duty, finishing on top of the Fleet News Group Best Value Analysis with an overall score of 6.010 out of 10.
The Daily finished ahead of the Isuzu NPR , which scored 5.741, and the Hino 300 Series, which recorded 5.030.
While all three finalists presented capable light-duty fleet propositions, the judges found the IVECO Daily stood out for one of the factors that can easily be overlooked in commercial vehicle selection — driver comfort.
More van-like than truck-like
The strongest impression from the judging panel was how comfortable and familiar the Daily felt from behind the wheel.
Judges described the driving experience as being much closer to a car or van than a conventional truck, making it easy to settle into and less intimidating for drivers who may not spend every day in a light-duty truck.
That characteristic contributed to the Daily’s strongest result in the Best Value Analysis, with a Driving / On Road score of 1.560 from a possible 2.000.
The suspension seats were also highlighted by the judges. The Daily uses a heavy-duty chassis and suspension designed to carry significant loads, but the suspension seat helped isolate the driver from some of that firmness when the vehicle was unladen.
This gave the Daily a point of difference against the other finalists, which were considered capable commercial vehicles but did not provide the same level of ride comfort during the evaluation.
Interior sets the benchmark
The judging panel also considered the Daily’s interior to be the strongest in the light-duty category.
Storage options throughout the cabin were a highlight, reflecting the reality that fleet drivers often use the cab as a mobile workspace.
The availability of multiple charging options and Apple CarPlay also contributed to the result, with the judges noting the importance of connectivity and practical technology for drivers spending long periods on the road.
The Daily recorded a Workspace Ergonomics score of 0.930 from a possible 1.500.
There was, however, one area that drew some scrutiny.
The evaluation vehicle was a crew-cab model with four seatbelts across the rear seating position. While the seating capacity provides flexibility for fleet applications that need to move work crews, the judges felt fitting four adults across the rear would be a tight squeeze.
IVECO Daily BVA scorecard
The Fleet Truck of the Year judging process uses a Best Value Analysis to assess each finalist across six areas important to fleet buyers.
| BVA category | Weighting | IVECO Daily score |
|---|---|---|
| Driving / On Road | 20% | 1.560 / 2.000 |
| Engine / Transmission | 20% | 0.880 / 2.000 |
| Chassis / Suspension | 15% | 0.480 / 1.500 |
| Safety / Sustainability | 15% | 1.140 / 1.500 |
| Manufacturer Support | 15% | 1.020 / 1.500 |
| Workspace Ergonomics | 15% | 0.930 / 1.500 |
| Overall BVA score | 100% | 6.010 / 10 |
In addition to its strong on-road result, the Daily scored 1.140 from 1.500 for Safety / Sustainability and 1.020 from 1.500 for Manufacturer Support, helping it build the most complete overall result of the three finalists.
A close contest between three capable trucks
The final results for the 2026 Fleet Truck of the Year – Light Duty were:
- IVECO Daily — 6.010/10
- Isuzu NPR — 5.741/10
- Hino 300 Series — 5.030/10
Less than 0.3 points separated the Daily and Isuzu NPR, reinforcing how competitive the category was.
The result also demonstrates why the Fleet News Group judging process looks beyond headline specifications. Payload, engine performance and chassis capability remain important, but fleet vehicles also need to work for the people who drive them every day.
In the case of the IVECO Daily, the combination of commercial capability, a comfortable driving experience and a class-leading cabin was enough to put it at the top of the scorecard.
The IVECO Daily Cab Chassis 50C is the 2026 Fleet Truck of the Year – Light Duty.
