A team of Volvo truck technicians from Sydney will represent Australia and New Zealand at the global final of Volvo’s VISTA service competition in Sweden after taking out the regional title.
Team CHAMPIONS from VCV Prestons won the Australian final, earning the opportunity to compete against leading Volvo technicians from around the world in Gothenburg from 7–11 September.
The four-person team comprises Mohammed Firoz Jalil, Aryan Chand, Dennis Kurian and Rachel Cuddihy. They competed against teams from across Australia and New Zealand in a series of theoretical and technical challenges designed to test problem-solving, product knowledge and teamwork.
VISTA is one of the world’s largest competitions for service market employees, with more than 14,000 technicians participating globally. This year, 488 competitors took part across Australia and New Zealand.
While the competition provides technicians with an opportunity to demonstrate their skills, it also highlights the increasingly important role technical expertise plays in keeping modern heavy vehicles operating.
As trucks become more sophisticated, incorporating advanced electronics, safety systems, emissions technology and increasingly electrified drivetrains, workshop diagnostic capability and technician training are becoming critical parts of fleet uptime.
Volvo Group Australia Vice President, Service Market and Retail, Martin Jerresand, said technician capability had a direct impact on customers.
“The skill of our technicians drives our customers’ success,” Jerresand said.
“A stationary truck doesn’t earn any money.”
He congratulated Team CHAMPIONS on winning the regional competition and securing the opportunity to compete internationally.

The global VISTA final will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden, between 7 and 11 September 2026.
